Cape Girardeau, Mo.-based Saint Francis Healthcare System is almost ready to launch its Epic EHR, scheduled to go live on July 1, reports the Southeast Missourian.
Saint Francis hopes its $43 million investment will help streamline and connect patient information throughout the system. Two weeks following the EHR go-live, the health system plans to launch a MyChart patient portal as well, according to the report.
Maryann Reese, executive vice president and COO of Saint Francis, said the implementation created 78 permanent and full-time jobs — 29 positions were added to the revenue cycle and 49 positions were added to the IT department, she told Southeast Missourian.
Overall, the health system looks forward to the go-live.
"This is the largest and most exciting project Saint Francis has done, outside of construction," Ms. Reese said in the report. "We're a little bit nervous about flipping the switch, but we also know we are going to bring the best care that we can to our patients, and we're going to make our physicians and clinicians more successful because of it."
