Madison, N.J.-based Quest Diagnostics, a medical laboratory company, reported a recent data breach that affected 34,000 patients' health records.
Quest said a third party accessed the data through its web application, which is called MyQuest by Care360, on Nov. 26.
The data included individuals' names, dates of birth, lab results and some telephone numbers. It did not include Social Security numbers, insurance information or credit card information.
The company said there's no indication that the data has been misused.
Quest reported the breach to law enforcement and is currently working with a cybersecurity firm to evaluate the situation. Quest notified impacted individuals by mail and set up a toll-free number to address questions.
