Royal Philips will open a business and technology center in Middle Tennessee, which it expects will create more than 800 jobs, the company said Thursday.
The center will consolidate many of Philips' business functions into one U.S. location, including commercial operations, customer service, finance, human resources, IT, marketing, procurement and quality and regulatory.
Gov. Bill Haslam, R, praised the Amsterdam-based company for helping grow the state's economy and tech sector.
"More international companies like Philips are deciding to invest and create jobs in Tennessee because of the policies we've put into place with the help of the General Assembly," Mr. Haslam said. "Philips' investment in Middle Tennessee continues our state's strong growth trajectory and moves us closer to making Tennessee the No. 1 location in the Southeast for high quality jobs."
