The National Institutes of Health Clinical Center achieved HIMSS' EMR Adoption Model Stage 7, the first U.S. government health organization to reach the final stage.
NIH uses Allscripts' Sunrise EHR platform. While the first federal health organization to reach Stage 7, it also joins just 7.8 percent of hospitals that have done so.
"The NIH Clinical Center has done an excellent job creating a best-in-class EMR environment," said John Hoyt, executive vice president of HIMSS Analytics. "This is a great example of how a federal institution can indeed implement a complete EMR that helps its staff deliver quality outcomes."
