Mayo Clinic, NLP Logix join forces for stroke diagnostic decision support

NLP Logix, an advanced analytics and machine learning company, will collaborate with Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic to develop artificial intelligence algorithms for stroke detection.

Under the joint product development agreement, the two organizations will create stroke detection algorithms based off de-identified clinical data from Mayo Clinic. The goal is to assist physicians in making accurate diagnoses for stroke patients.

NLP Logix will distribute the first product suite through Azure, Microsoft's cloud computing platform.

"Deep learning has shown early promise to be able to make significant contributions to the science of medicine and improve patient care," said Charles Bruce, MD, cardiologist at the Mayo Clinic's Jacksonville, Fla., campus. "We are excited to accelerate the potentials of artificial intelligence into true clinical value to our patients across the world."
