Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Healthcare and New York City-based Oxeon, a healthcare growth services firm, have launched a new company: Empiric Health.
Loma Linda (Calif.) University Health will serve as an initial anchor customer to Empiric Health.
Empiric Health's first solution will be based on Intermountain's ProComp program, which seeks to understand how differences in the way surgeries are performed impact overall cost and patient outcomes. The ProComp program has saved Intermountain more than $90 million to date.
Empiric Health's model will be based on clinical and patient data, which physicians will utilize to determine the best way to administer care.
"Through Empiric Health, we will share our proven methodology for delivering better care — along with significant [return on investment] and bottom line impact — with other health systems," said Intermountain Healthcare President and CEO Marc Harrison, MD, in a statement.
