The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society is launching its Cybersecurity Hub on Oct. 25. The hub is designed to be a resource for healthcare executives, healthcare professionals and the public in protecting private patient data and maintaining the security of technologies used with patients.
The hub is a public exhibit and education center that will be a part of the HIMSS Innovation Center at the Global Center for Health Innovation in Cleveland. The interactive exhibits allow visitors to take a deep dive into the latest cybersecurity issues as well as current solutions and technologies. Videos, infographics, web content and text together help educate visitors on cybersecurity.
According to the HIMSS 2016 Cybersecurity Survey, 87 percent of acute providers and 81 percent of non-acute providers made information security a higher priority this year. Providers most feared the following future threats: Ransomware (69 percent), advanced persistent threat attacks (61 percent) and phishing attacks (61 percent).
