The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society appointed new executives to its North America board of directors.
Denise Hines, PhD, will take over as board chair. She currently heads eHealth Services Group and serves as executive director of the Georgia Health Information Network. Dr. Hines has more than 20 years of experience in health systems, physician practices, home health, corporate, consulting, state government and revenue management.
"My hope is that I can serve as an inspiration to encourage more women and minorities to seek a career in health information technology. One of my goals this year is to support HIMSS's initiatives around women in health IT and encourage employers to recognize the benefits of a diverse workforce," said Dr. Hines.
Here are three more newly appointed board members, who began their terms last month.
1. John Kansky, president and CEO of the Indiana Health Information Exchange, will serve as vice chair
2. Christopher Ross, CIO of Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic, will serve as board chair-elect
3. Michael Nusbaum, president of M.H. Nusbaum & Associates in Canada, will serve as vice chair-elect
