HIMSS attendance jumps by more than 5,000 attendees to 43,129

The HIMSS15 Annual Conference & Exhibition in Chicago from April 12 – 16 had a record-breaking 43,129 attendees.

The attendance jumped by more than 5,000 people from the approximately 38,000 attendees in 2014 and just less than 10,000 more than the approximately 34,600 in 2013.

The annual conference, the largest in the healthcare IT industry, now boasts higher attendance than some of the medical industry group conferences. For example, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons' conference regularly records more than 30,000 attendees, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology's annual meeting in 2014 had 34,750.

HIMSS was the fourth largest medical industry meeting in 2013, according to the Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association.
