HealthTap, a Palo Alto, Calif.-based virtual care network, launched Doctor AI, a personal artificial intelligence-powered "physician" that helps diagnose patients and route them to care.
Doctor AI was trained by HealthTap's network of more than 100,000 physicians and has undergone more than six years of medical training.
Patients can actually converse with Doctor AI to give it a better understanding of their health profile and needs. Doctor AI first analyzes information from a patient's personal health record. It then uses machine learning algorithms to apply clinical expertise and direct the patient to the best type of care, whether it's booking an appointment or seeking more urgent care.
Patients can access Doctor AI through HealthTap's mobile apps and website.
"Years of diligent, collaborative work of some of the brightest doctors, engineers and data scientists combined with groundbreaking work of some of the best user experience and visual designers on the planet have brought to life a first of its kind, smart and compassionate Doctor AI," said HealthTap Founder and CEO Ron Gutman.
