Health systems are increasingly looking to leverage data from EHRs to streamline clinical care, financial processes and supply chain procedures, according to a Premier survey.
The survey, titled C-Suite Survey: 5 Key Focus Areas in Light of the New Administration and Congress, asked 63 healthcare executives about their current business and investment strategies.
One of the trends Premier identified was "moving from meaningful use to meaningful insight," according to the report. While health systems previously focused on recording data in EHRs, they are now more interested in integrating and combining this data to aid in decision making.
Here are four things to know.
1. The majority (53 percent) of respondents said they will increase their push to integrate data from separate sources or will increase their investments in analytics.
2. Half of respondents said they will increase their focus on improving the interoperability capabilities of existing health technology.
3. Almost half (47 percent) of respondents said they will increase their use of technology to support risk-based contracts.
4. A total of zero respondents said they would decrease their focus in these three investment areas.
