Harmony Healthcare IT helps Aurora Healthcare shift 32 terabytes of legacy records during Cerner-to-Epic transition

Aurora Health Care, based in Milwaukee, made the decision to switch from Cerner's EHR to Epic's EHR in 2010, according to a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel report. The move to Epic cost more than $100 million. During the switch, Harmony Healthcare IT helped the health system move its legacy data to the new system.

Aurora Health Care needed to transfer 32 terabytes of legacy records, 75 terabytes of images, 34 million scanned documents and more. Harmony Healthcare IT completed the transfer within 12 months of the contracting signing.

"We needed a comprehensive solution to address a change in our go-forward EHR system, mountains of legacy data and thousands of concurrent users, with no room for downtime or errors," said Vince Trier, director of IT applications at Aurora Health Care. "Our archive is an enterprise-wide win that exceeded our expectations. It takes only minutes to learn how to use it and it will provide accessible and secure data storage forever. Best yet, there is significant ROI."
