First Databank introduces cloud software to access drug integration data

In collaboration with MEDITECH, First Databank announced the launch of the FDB Cloud Connector, a cloud-based software to access integrated drug data.

The Cloud Connector, which operates through services provided by Amazon Web Services, allows customers to request and receive First Databank drug data without having to host the database. The service has completed its trial period and is available to the general market. In addition to being an accessory software — it can be implemented at any time, making the launch time for an EMR shorter — it can communicate with systems irrespective of operating system, platform or programming language.

"With the FDB Cloud Connector, we have created an opportunity to vastly improve application development times so that our customers are able to immediately and securely deploy the most current FDB drug knowledge and, ultimately, enhance medication care guidance," said Chuck Tuchinda, MD, president of FDB.

First Databank, based in San Francisco, is a drug analytics company that provides health IT developers with "medication decision" software, informed by drug trials and interactions. The company is part of the Hearst Health network, a subsidiary of the Hearst Corp.
