In order to track the frequency of increases in the price of prescription drugs purchased for Medicare beneficiaries, CMS developed an online dashboard that tracks the cost of these drugs.
The interactive tool, which debuted last year, recently underwent an update, according to a post on the CMS blog. With the update, CMS has now added two avenues of information: information on drugs purchased for Medicaid beneficiaries and high-level information on rebates provided by drug manufacturers. This addition updates components from the original dashboard in which users were able to track trends by viewing drugs in Medicare Part B and D.
Information on the dashboard also includes details related to drug spending, number of prescription fills, brand and generic name, uses and the name of the manufacturer.
