Those interested in working at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., can now apply for positions using a video job application, reports KSHB.
The hospital is offering video applications as a way to reduce the amount of paperwork applicants must submit and to better match people's skill levels and experience with positions.
"We are not looking for the production quality; we're trying to get to know that person as they answer the questions and find out if they are a fit for Children's Mercy and what position would be the best fit for that individual," Molly Weaver, director of employment at Children's Mercy, told KSHB.
The hospital is using an app called Introduce Yourself, powered by HireVue. Applicants are presented questions one at a time, and after 30 seconds, a recording automatically begins. Applicants have one chance to record their answer before the app moves on to the next question, according to the report.
The hospital launched the video job application one year ago and has since hired 100 video applicants, according to the report.
