As part of Cerner's acquisition of Siemens that was completed last year, the Kansas City, Mo.-based health IT vendor plans to scale up operations at a former Siemens facility in Malvern, Pa., reports Philadelphia Business Journal.
The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development awarded Cerner a $1.25 million grant to help keep and create jobs in Malvern, according to the report.
Cerner has reportedly been in talks with Pennsylvania Sen. Andy Dinniman (D) and Gov. Tom Wolf's administration to expand the facility and create new jobs, according to the report.
As part of the agreement, Cerner plans to invest more than $75 million in the expansion project, which includes purchasing new equipment and creating up to 250 full-time jobs over the next three years in addition to retaining the more than 2,000 jobs already at the facility, according to the report.
Cerner must comply with program guidelines and commitments to receive the financial assistance, the report indicates.
"As a company at the intersection of healthcare and information technology, Cerner is experiencing tremendous growth, and we plan to maintain a strong presence in Malvern," Cerner President Zane Burke said in a statement, according to the report.
