Cerner, Allscripts win top EHR ranking from Black Book, Epic left off

A recent Black Book survey unveiled the EHR vendors that ranked No. 1 in client experience in 2017.

The survey was based on the responses of 3,391 crowdsourced EHR users.

Here are the top EHR vendors, according to Black Book's survey.

  • Evident (CPSI) — Small and rural hospitals under 100 beds
  • Cerner — Community hospitals 101 to 250 beds
  • Allscripts — Medical centers over 250 beds
  • Cerner — Hospital chains, systems and integrated delivery networks

Here are three other tidbits from the survey.

  • Forty-one percent of surveyed administrators said they struggle with exchanging patient records with other healthcare providers, especially those not using the same EHR.
  • Another 25 percent of respondents said they can't use any patient information received electronically from outside sources.
  • Approximately 82 percent of independent physician practices aren't certain they have the proper connectivity and technology to bear the financial burden of quality payment programming.
