BCBS of North Carolina, Walgreens & American Well Partner to Provide Telehealth Services

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, American Well and Walgreens Take Care Health Systems collaborated (pdf) to make telehealth services available to thousands of BCBSNC employees in North Carolina.

American Well offers telehealth solutions to bring healthcare into the homes and workplaces of patients. Take Care Health Systems is a division of Walgreens.

The service will be called OnlineCareNC and will allow BCBSNC employees to receive healthcare consultations while at home or work. Employees will communicate with credentialed Take Care Health System nurse practitioners, health coaches or nutritionists via two-way video, secure text chat or phone.

The Take Care providers will be able to review employees' available clinical information, discuss symptoms and recommend follow-up care, according to the release. The telehealth system will also automatically create a complete electronic record of each online visit.
