Memphis, Tenn.-based Baptist Memorial Health Care received a 10-star rating from Epic for its EHR implementation — a world first.
The rating shows that Baptist adopted more Epic "gold star items" than any other healthcare organization. Epic has nearly 700 "gold star items." The items include apps and solutions that help providers offer accurate and timely care. For example, Epic's MyChart app, available on tablet or computer, allows patients to schedule appointments, refill prescriptions, directly contact their providers and more.
Baptist implemented a phased roll-out of its Epic system, beginning in 2012. All 14 hospitals and more than 450 Baptist Medical Group providers incorporated the system.
"Our commitment to patients is the driving force behind our work," said Beverly Jordan, vice president and chief information and transformation officer at Baptist, in a statement. "Even though we have reached the highest achievement possible for our electronic health record, we will keep going. This is an ongoing process, as we will have new star items with each update. The program never ends, and we will never stop."
