Apple's Yoky Matsuoka, PhD, who was hired to lead its health technology teams, has departed, according to a Bloomberg report. Dr. Matsuoka was hired in May 2016.
Dr. Matsuoka led teams involved in Apple's HealthKit software, CareKit tool and ResearchKit framework. Prior to Apple, Dr. Matsuoka served as a vice president at Alphabet's Nest Labs. She co-founded Google X, the Apple's research and development unit, in 2009.
Neither Dr. Matsuoka nor Apple have commented on this move as yet, Bloomberg reported.
Apple has been making concentrated efforts to increase its healthcare-related offerings including expanding the iPhone's health tracking capabilities into a diagnostic tool. Company officials met with the FDA to discuss potential cardiology-focuses technologies and tools.
