Almost 67k new IT jobs created since start of 2016, even as IT job growth slows

There is a 0.33 percent growth rate in the number of IT jobs created, according to a Janco Associates report of October 2016 data. However, this growth may not be enough to sustain industry interest.

The report projects IT job market prospects based on data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Since the start of 2016, there have been 66,600 new IT jobs created; Janco Associates expects an additional 9,000 IT jobs to be added through the end of 2016, for a total of 75,600 new IT jobs introduced in the current calendar year.

IT job growth has slowed over time; last year, there were 112,500 IT jobs created and in 2014, there were 129,400 IT jobs created. Janco Associates reports that this level of growth is "barely enough to cover the graduates from US universities and trade schools."
