The American Hospital Association has reached out to CMS and urged the agency to refrain from finalizing meaningful use Stage 3 requirements.
The AHA suggested CMS develop mature standards and infrastructure, pulling from Stage 2 experience, before finalizing Stage 3 requirements.
"While the Stage 3 proposals offer promising ideas that could further health information exchange and support greater patient engagement, 2015 will be the first year at Stage 2 meaningful use for most hospitals and the vast majority of physicians," said AHA Executive Vice President Rick Pollack, according to the report.
