Information technology employment fell 2.1 percent in May, as U.S. employers nixed 96,000 jobs, reports The Wall Street Journal, citing an analysis of Bureau of Labor Statistics data by IT industry trade group CompTIA.
The job reduction leaves total IT employment at 4.452 million jobs, according to the report.
Employers posted 115,000 IT job postings in May, down 21,000 postings from the previous month, according to the report.
This trend parallels the overall slowed job growth pace, which in May fell to the slowest pace in five years, the Wall Street Journal reported.
