ECRI Institute has released its "2015 Top 10 Hospital C-Suite Watch List," a compilation of topics, questions and answers for hospital leaders to be attuned to in the upcoming months.
Here are the 10 topics for C-suiters to be watching over the next year, according to ECRI Institute.
1. Disinfection robots: Will they effectively defeat healthcare-associated infections?
2. 3D printing: Is it just a buzz or should hospitals invest?
3. Middleware (software connecting enterprise applications): Will middleware help meet National Patient Safety Goals on clinical alarms?
4. Postdischarge clinics: Will they help prevent readmissions?
5. Google Glass: Though consumers aren't taking the bait, will Google Glass provide benefits to healthcare?
6. Anti-obesity devices: Should these devices be included in providers' bariatric offerings?
7. Caring for millennials with cancer: Is there a need for adolescent- and young adult-focused cancer centers?
8. Fecal microbiota therapy: How many gastrointestinal disorders can this treat?
9. Artificial pancreas device systems: How are these systems developing and transforming?
10. Telehealth: What are the maximum benefits telehealth can provide?
"Hospital leaders must carefully examine their strategic and operational plans and assess the relevance of these new technologies or infrastructure initiatives for their organizations," said Rob Maliff, director of applied solutions for ECRI Institute.
