West Park Hospital in Cody, Wyo., said Friday it is experiencing billing issues with its new EHR system from health IT vendor Meditech.
In a statement on its website, the hospital asks for "continued patience" as it deals with the billing system error.
The hospital said the issue involves certain physician office charges that are mistakenly being billed on the patient statement. "They are being sent to the insurance plan, but are falling to the patient statement prior to a response being received from the insurance plan," the statement reads.
West Park Hospital Patient Financial Director Larry Ekdahl said Meditech is working through the issue, but the hospital meanwhile has placed all physician office statements on hold until things are resolved.
"Unfortunately, this is not a West Park Hospital system issue we can resolve on our end. We are in constant communication with Meditech to resolve this issue as soon as possible," Mr. Ekdahl said.
"We thank those effected by this system error for their patience and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."
