Magee, Miss.-based Pioneer Health Services will close Pioneer Community Hospital of Scott in Oneida, Tenn., at 8 a.m. on July 1 — five days later than it originally planed to shut down the hospital.
PHS, which operates hospitals in five states, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April. It notified the Tennessee in early June that it may close its hospital in Oneida, and employees of Pioneer Hospital of Scott were told June 16 that the hospital was closing.
However, PHS will delay closing the hospital until July 1. Pioneer Hospital of Scott CEO Tony Taylor told WATE that there are a few parties interested in running the hospital, but corporate leaders haven't told him if a deal will be struck in time to keep the hospital open.
