Bend, Ore.-based St. Charles Health System delayed an expansion project amid its financial struggles, according to a KTVZ report.
Here are three things to know.
1. The health system's expansion project totals $66 million. It includes construction of a four-story patient tower, as well as adding critical-care beds and a 500-space parking lot, according to the report.
2. St. Charles confirmed to KTVZ the project is delayed. Construction on the project was expected to commence last summer or fall, and St. Charles expected to open the patient tower next year, according to the report. The hospital now expects to complete the patient tower by 2019.
3. The project delay comes as St. Charles faces financial struggles. The health system recorded $845,000 in operating income for the first four months of the year and missed its projections for revenues so far this year by $8 million, St. Charles CFO Jenn Welander told WTVZ.
"As we, just like any other business, go through challenging times, it's prudent for us to look at our operations, look at our spending and make sure that we're doing the things that are going to make St. Charles vibrant for the future," she said.
