Hospitals are constantly looking for ways to improve claim collection rates as they strive to maintain or boost their financial picture.
Becky Kinsella, client success manager at Craneware: If hospitals want to improve their collections, it is imperative every patient is asked prior to or at the time of service for a copay, deductible or coinsurance. There tends to be a myth in healthcare that patients don't want to pay their bills. In reality, three out of four patients are willing and able to pay, they just need to be asked. Hospitals need to be transparent and upfront with patients. This will not only increase collections, but patient satisfaction as well.
