Outpatient oncology services at Steward Massachusetts hospital temporarily paused

Hematology oncology services at financially troubled Dallas-based Steward Health Care's Brockton, Mass.-based Good Samaritan Medical Center are temporarily paused after its provider left.

A spokesperson for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health said in a statement shared with Becker's that it has been made aware of the outpatient services pause, which was provided by an independent physician practice and not run by Good Samaritan Medical Center.

"We are in communication with the practice and will assist them as needed to ensure patients continue to have access to treatment and services," the health department spokesperson said.

Services are expected to resume once the hospital can recruit a new provider, a spokesperson for Steward said in a statement shared with Becker's

Other inpatient services at the hospital remain uninterrupted, the Steward spokesperson said.
