The Oklahoma Healthcare Authority has delayed the vote on a proposal that would reduce reimbursement to physicians that treat Medicaid patients by 25 percent, reports KGOU.
OHCA President Nico Gomez, who proposed the reimbursement cuts in March, asked the committee to delay voting on the proposal Monday after the state legislature failed to release its 2017 budget. The Oklahoma legislature is in the final week of its session and has yet to pass a budget.
Oklahoma Hospital Association executive director Craig Jones told KGOU the delay puts excess strain on state hospitals. "Usually no news is good news, but I would say no news is really bad news because we're in no better shape to know what the future is going to be," Mr. Jones said.
The legislature plans to release the budget by Friday.
