Charlotte, N.C-based Novant Health reported revenue of $953.4 million for the three-month period that ended March 31, compared to revenue of $886 million for the same period a year ago.
The system's net patient service revenue grew to $951.8 million, up from $883.9 million for the same period of 2014. That revenue growth was attributable largely to Novant's facilities caring for more patients, as total discharges increased to 28,483 in the three-month period that ended March 31, up 3.1 percent from the comparable period of last year.
Due to growth in expenses, Novant's operating income dipped slightly in the three-month period, falling 1.1 percent to about $19.7 million.
The system ended the period with net income of $46.1 million, up from $43.2 million for the same period a year ago.
