Apple's electronic payment service Apple Pay can now facilitate donations to nonprofits in the U.S., reports TechCrunch.
Previously, Apple banned iOS apps from collecting funds for charities or nonprofits via Apple Pay. Starting Nov. 14, nonprofit organizations that use Apple Pay can integrate "donate" buttons into their user interface and process transactions through the payment service.
"So many people want to give, but complicated and clunky donation systems discourage them. Integrating Apple Pay makes the giving experience incredibly simple and convenient, and we hope it will encourage more people to join our mission and enable us to transform lives within seconds," Scott Harrison, CEO of charity: water, told TechCrunch.
Nonprofit healthcare organizations that recently launched with Apple Pay include American Red Cross, American Heart Association, Children's MiracleNetworkHospitals, Doctors Without Borders, St. Jude Children's ResearchHospital and United Way.
