The New Hampshire Insurance Department has rolled out an upgrade of its medical cost-comparison website, adding a myriad of new procedures including dental and prescription drug prices, reports Concord Monitor.
NH Health Cost features data on the costs of medical procedures at hospitals, rehabilitation centers, health and radiology clinics and medical groups across the state. The site has also compiled metrics on quality measures from CMS and patient satisfaction scores for medical facilities.
New Hampshire is currently one of only five state governments that has made medical pricing information available to its residents in a searchable database, according to Union Leader.
Since the site launched in 2007, it has drawn about 3,000 users each month. With the updated interface and pricing information, officials from the state insurance department hope to see those numbers go up.
And consumers aren't the only ones using NH Health Cost, according to Concord Monitor.
"I think insurance companies are looking [at the site] to see what other negotiated rates are...and providers are using it to see what the guy down the road is charging," Maureen Mustard, director of healthcare analytics at the New Hampshire Insurance Department, told Concord Monitor.
