Fort Myers, Fla.-based Lee Memorial Health System reported $77 million in operating income for fiscal year 2016. This is down about 25 percent from fiscal year 2015 operating income of $103 million.
Including investments and charitable donations, the system's excess revenue topped $156 million, and its total operating revenue was $1.6 billion, up 7 percent over last fiscal year's total operating revenue of nearly $1.49 billion.
The financial news was presented at the system's board meeting, and was followed with the budget for fiscal year 2017. Next year's budget includes $90 million for capital expenditures, such as upgrades and expansions. Lee Memorial's total budget for fiscal year 2017 is more than $1.7 billion, allotting for 4 percent operating margin and volume growth of 2.4 percent in adjusted admissions.
