Louisville, Ky.-based Kindred Healthcare plans to close its long-term care hospital in Detroit by Sept. 30.
The closure will result in about 145 layoffs, according to Crain's Detroit Business, which cited a filing with the Michigan Workforce Development Office.
Kindred Hospital Detroit CEO Mary Hoskins told Crain's the hospital is assisting affected employees in finding new jobs outside and within Kindred Healthcare.
Ms. Hoskins told Crain's the hospital is closing for "strategic" reasons, but declined to provide any additional information.
Kindred also announced plans in late July to close Kindred Hospital Central Ohio in Marshfield by Sept. 30. The closure will result in 111 layoffs.
