The majority of healthcare providers (80 percent) have had a smooth transition to ICD-10, according to a KPMG survey.
Here are four things to know about the post-ICD-10 healthcare industry.
1. KPMG surveyed 298 industry stakeholders. Of these survey respondents, 28 percent report the transition has been smooth, and 51 percent indicate there were a few technical issues, but the transition was overall success.
2. Just 11 percent of the survey's respondents feel their transition was a failure.
3. The surveyed cited the biggest concerns associated with ICD-10 as claims rejection, clinical documentation and physician education. But less than half of respondents (42 percent) say all of these challenges are a part of ICD-10.
4. In the wake of ICD-10 implementation, nearly half of respondents (46 percent) are pursuing the following initiatives:
• Clinical documentation improvement
• Revenue cycle optimization
• EHR and IT optimization
