For-profit hospital stock report: Week of Jan. 2-6

All the major for-profit hospital operators saw their stock prices rise last week.

Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems saw the largest increase in share price, with shares rising 12.5 percent.

King of Prussia, Pa.-based Universal Health Services saw its share price rise 2 percent, the least of any of the major for-profit hospital operators.

Here is how the five operators stacked up.

  • Community Health Systems (Franklin, Tenn.): $6.28 per share (up 12.5 percent)
  • HCA Holdings (Nashville, Tenn.): $76.62 per share (up 3.5 percent)
  • LifePoint Health (Brentwood, Tenn.): $59.02 per share (up 3.9 percent)
  • Tenet Healthcare (Dallas): $16.40 per share (up 10.5 percent)
  • Universal Health Services (King of Prussia, Pa.): $108.51 per share (up 2 percent)
