Dameron Hospital in Stockton, Calif., has closed its labor and delivery and postpartum units, neonatal intensive care unit and pediatrics, according to a Fox40 report.
The hospital, part of Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente, attributed the decision to the transition of Kaiser physicians and patients out of Dameron.
"Our maternal child health service line will be the most affected by the Kaiser withdrawal on May 1 because so much of those services are utilized by Kaiser physicians and their patients," Lorraine P. Auerbach, Dameron Hospital president and CEO said, according to the report.
Seventy hospital workers face layoffs due to the closures.
