Misleading claims, unlicensed practitioners and medical billing issues rank No. 6 among U.S. consumers' top 10 complaints, according to a recent Consumer Federation of America report.
The report, conducted by CFA and the North American Consumer Protection Investigators, examined records from 39 state and local consumer protection agencies across 23 states. Researchers analyzed more than 203,284 complaints received within a one-year period, with most agencies' reports spanning January 2016 to December 2016.
Health services complaints ranked sixth among consumer grievances, with auto and home improvement complaints ranking first and second. Health services complaints also represented the third fastest-growing consumer grievance in 2016, behind fraud (No. 1) and cable, phone and internet services (No.2).
