CMS has notified Behavioral Hospital of Longview (Texas) it will terminate Medicare funding to the facility due to alleged deficiencies that jeopardize patient health and safety, reports Longview News-Journal.
CMS decided to withdraw funding after reviewing a report from the Texas Department of State Health Services which found Behavioral Health in non-compliance with Medicare conditions of participation.
The state report found the 76-bed psychiatric hospital deficient in governing body, patients' rights, nursing services, physical environment and infection control requirements, according to the article.
The provider agreement change is effective July 22. The hospital can appeal CMS' decision before an HHS administrative judge until August 30.
