CMS delays certain CJR program changes

CMS has delayed the effective date for certain technical changes to the Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement Model from Feb. 18 to March 21.

CMS delayed the changes in accordance with a White House memorandum issued Jan. 20. According to the American Hospital Association, the delay applies to minor modifications made to the CJR program under a final rule issued in December, such as the requirement that physicians and physician group practice collaborators give written notice to Medicare beneficiaries describing their participation in the bundled payment program.

The delay does not apply to CMS' expanded CJR Model or the mandatory bundled payment program for heart attacks and bypass surgeries that is slated to begin July 1.
