Becker's Hospital Review and Navigant convening experts for special revenue cycle management roundtable

The invitation-only roundtable brings together some of the industry’s top thinkers to tackle pressing issues facing revenue cycle management in healthcare. After the conference concludes, Becker's will publish a summary of the roundtable as well as contributed content from its participants, and video of the discussion will be made available on Navigant's website.

Becker's Hospital Review and Navigant Consulting have partnered for a high-level roundtable November 8 at the Swissotel in Chicago to discuss the mounting challenges in healthcare revenue cycle management.

Roundtable participants include prominent leaders from across the industry, including John Orsini, senior vice president and CFO of ‎Chicago-based Northwestern Medicine, Mike Browning, CFO of Toledo, Ohio-based ProMedica and Jeff Goldsmith, national healthcare advisor with Navigant. Molly Gamble, editor in chief of Becker's Hospital Review, will moderate the discussion.

Seeing as the event is invitation-only, this article is meant to encourage all Becker’s readers to engage with the content of the roundtable, which will be made available in several ways.

  • Becker's Healthcare reporters will publish a summary of the discussion online, which will also run in several Becker's e-newsletters.
  • Navigant's Jeff Goldsmith, a leading health industry analyst specializing in corporate strategy, trend analysis, health policy and emerging technologies, will contribute a summary article touching on the high points of the discussion. Mr. Goldsmith’s article will include linked video content.
  • A fuller video of the roundtable will be made available after the conference for readers to look through at their convenience.

The invitees of this Revenue Cycle Management roundtable are coming together to share insights about broader trends in healthcare. These trends include a shift toward capitated risk (i.e., how much a hospital’s revenue comes from population health-based payments), an increase in patient financial responsibility and the continued expansion of Medicaid. Are organizations dealing with some of these trends by focusing on their local markets rather than following macro trends? What are some specific successes people have had in grappling with capitated risk, for example, or with a rise in Medicaid-supported patients? Which of the myriad approaches to collecting from patients with high deductibles are working best? Experts were selected for this roundtable on the basis of their diverse experience and thought leadership, so the discussions about these matters promise to be lively and informative.

Please return here after the conference to read and view the proceedings of this exciting Revenue Cycle Management roundtable.
