Here are five hospitals that closed or announced plans to close in the past month.
1. SoutheastHEALTH in Cape Girardeau, Mo., said it plans to close Southeast Health Center of Reynolds County in Ellington, Mo., and its related clinics on March 11.
2. Sayre (Okla.) Memorial Hospital abruptly closed Feb. 1.
3. University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health plans to close Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace, Md., and replace it with a more limited-use hospital.
4. Williamsburg Regional Hospital in Kingstree, S.C., shut down earlier this month after severe flooding in October rendered the majority of the hospital unusable. The hospital hopes to have a fully functional modular hospital in place within the next few months.
5. St. Louis-based BJC HealthCare's Parkland Health Center-Weber Road in Farmington, Mo., closed in January.
