1. Global spending on oncology therapeutics and supportive care drugs reached $113 billion in 2016, up $6 billion from the year prior.
2. Over the past five years, the total global cost of cancer medicines increased at a constant annual growth rate of nearly 9 percent, according to the report.
3. Overall, the United States accounts for nearly half of the total global oncology costs.
4. The report projects total global spending for oncologics and supportive care will exceed $147 billion by 2021.
