Sacred Heart breaks ground on hospital named in honor of Quint and Rishy Studer: 5 things to know

Sacred Heart Health System in Pensacola, Fla., a member of St. Louis-based Ascension, broke ground Tuesday on its new four-story children's hospital.

Here are five things to know about the new hospital.

1. The new hospital will be named The Studer Family Children's Hospital in honor of Quint and Rishy Studer. Quint Studer, founder of Pensacola-based Studer Group, is a consultant who has worked with 900 hospitals over his 29-year career. Mr. Studer and his wife, Rishy, have been strong proponents for the development of Pensacola.

2. Sacred Heart said the new hospital's name honors the Studers' efforts to improve healthcare in the U.S. and for the children in the local community.

3. Scott Becker, publisher of Becker's Healthcare, said, "Quint Studer is a remarkable leader and story in every sense of the word. He is brilliant, caring, honest and inspirational. This project is another tribute to Quint."

4. The opening of the new hospital is expected to add 100 Sacred Heart jobs for the local community. Sacred Heart said growth of healthcare services will also enable recruitment of new pediatric specialists.

5. The new hospital will be built in front of the existing children's hospital.
