12 hospitals planning facility upgrades, expansions

The following hospitals announced in the last week plans to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities.

1. TriHealth to build new surgery center
Cincinnati-based TriHealth plans to build a multimillion-dollar surgery center in Anderson Township, Ohio, near Mercy Health's Anderson Hospital, reports Cincinnati Business Courier.

2. Hospitals of Providence breaks ground on new microhospital
The Hospitals of Providence, based in El Paso, Texas, began construction Sept. 14 on its Horizon City (Texas) Campus, reports El Paso Inc.

3. Texas Health Resources to reopen Forest Park Medical Center
Arlington-based Texas Health Resources on Tuesday reopened the former Forest Park Medical Center Fort Worth as an orthopedic hospital specializing in joint replacement and rehabilitation, according to the Star-Telegram.

4. Grant Regional Health Center updates renovation plans
Lancaster (Wis.) City Council approved changes to Grant Regional Health Center's proposed renovations, addressing community concerns about parking, landscaping and stormwater retention, reported the Telegraph Herald.

5. Scripps unveils $33M ED at Scripps Memorial Hospital
The new $33 million emergency department at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, Calif., is six-times larger than the old ED by square footage, holds twice as many beds and can accommodate four times as many trauma patients, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

6. Mercer Health breaks ground on $24M expansion
Coldwater, Ohio-based Mercer Health broke ground on its $24 million expansion project Sunday, Your Hometown Stations reported. 

7. Mid Coast Hospital plans renovations for Parkview facility
Mid CoastHospital in Brunswick, Maine, recently revealed preliminary plans to redevelop the former ParkviewMedicalCenter campus, also in Brunswick.

8. Decatur Memorial Hospital, Springfield Clinic collaborate on medical office
Decatur (Ill.) Memorial Hospital and multi-specialty medical clinic Springfield (Ill.) Clinic are collaborating on $1 million of renovations on a medical office building across from the main DMH campus to expand access to primary care and specialty services, according to a WAND report.

9. NYU Lutheran plans expansion for main campus
NYU Lutheran Medical Center, part of NYU Langone Health System, will expand the hospital's main campus in Brooklyn, N.Y., according to the Brooklyn Daily Eagle.

10. Otsego Memorial Hospital plans $13.1M renovation project
Otsego Memorial Hospital in Gaylord, Mich., will undergo a $13.1 million renovation and expansion, according to the Gaylord Herald Times.

11. Anderson Hospital allocates $7M toward private rooms
Maryville, Ill.-based Anderson Hospital invested $7.2 million to change physician offices into private rooms, St. Louis Business Journal reports.

12. Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center plans $16M expansion
Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) Medical Center is pursuing a $16 million expansion to meet an anticipated uptick in service demands, The Palm Beach Post reports.
