The following hospitals announced or completed plans in the last week to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities.
1. Colorado mental health facility to nearly double number of beds with new $32M hospital
Grand Junction, Colo.-based Mind Springs Health began construction on a new $32 million mental health hospital, which will contain nearly double the number of beds at the current facility.
2. MidMichigan Health demolishes building to pave way for $57M heart and vascular center
Midland-based MidMichigan Health's Sugnet Building was demolished Monday to begin construction on a new $57 million heart and vascular center that will take its place.
3. Novant hospital to open $49M inpatient wing
Clemmons (N.C) Medical Center, owned by Charlotte, N.C.-based Novant Health, will open its $49 million inpatient wing on Aug. 2.
4. Freeman Medical Center announces $13M renovation project
Downers Grove, Ill.-based Freeman Medical Center announced a $13 million renovation and expansion project after receiving complaints of insufficient space at the hospital and nursing home.
5. RWJBarnabas Health hospital relocates vascular laboratory
Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville, N.J., said its vascular laboratory is now located in a newly renovated space.
6. Vidant Beaufort breaks ground on $17M expansion
Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington, N.C., broke ground this week on its $17 million expansion project, slated for completion next summer.
7. Dignity Health hospital introduces breast center
Dignity Health – Glendale (Calif.) Memorial Hospital and Health Center unveiled an outpatient imaging center in partnership with RadNet, a Los Angeles-based national provider of freestanding, fixed-site diagnostic imaging services.
8. KU Medical Center opens $82M health education building
Kansas City-based University of Kansas Medical Center opened its $82 million health education building on Thursday.
9. Elmhurst Memorial Hospital to begin $600k ED expansion
Elmhurst (Ill.) Memorial Hospital will begin a $600,000 project to expand its emergency department in August.
10. Mercy to construct $150M hospital in Oklahoma
St. Louis-based Mercy is planning to build a $150 million hospital in southern Oklahoma City later this year.
11. Duke LifePoint hospital completes behavioral health expansion
Haywood Regional Medical Center in Clyde, N.C., part of Brentwood, Tenn.-based Duke LifePoint Healthcare, expanded its behavioral health unit.
12. Sanford Health to close ED, transition emergency care to new facility
Fargo, N.D.-based Sanford Health revealed plans to shutter its downtown emergency department July 25 and immediately transition to a new ED at Sanford Medical Center Fargo.
