MassTech awards $200k to EHR vendors for childhood behavioral health

The Massachusetts eHealth Institute at the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, both based in Boston, has awarded nearly $200,000 to four EHR vendors to improve behavioral health workflows.

The grants, which range from $31,000 to $54,000, are the result of an open procurement process under MeHI's Children's Behavioral Health Initiative Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths Interface Development Grant program.

The four vendors — eHana, Netsmart Technologies, PsyTech Solutions and Qualifacts Systems — will use the funds to enhance their system interfaces to enable users to electronically report data to the Commonwealth's CBHI.

The state hopes developments in EHR technologies will help streamline the reporting process so physicians can focus on patient care, rather than data entry.

"Now more than ever, we need to find ways to use technology to help clinicians better manage, track and provide enhanced services to children and their families dealing with significant behavioral, emotional and mental health needs," said Marylou Sudders, Massachusetts secretary of Health and Human Services.
