Surgeons at Rancho Mirage, Calif.-based Eisenhower Health recently performed the hospital's 500th transcatheter aortic valve replacement.
Puneet Khana, MD, director of Eisenhower's transcatherter valve program, was among the surgeons who performed the procedure.
"It's actually been probably one of the most gratifying things I've been involved with in my 30 year career so far," Dr. Khana told local news station KESQ-TV. "It is transformational technology. This was something that could only have been achieved previously by a very big operation where we open the chest and replace the valve surgically."
Eisenhower Health is the only hospital in California's Coachella Valley to offer TAVR procedures.
