Community Hospital in Mesa County, Colo., opened a cardiovascular procedure center June 1.
The hospital's main level houses the cardiac cath lab, which is part of Community Hospital's new cardiology program called Grand Valley Cardiology.
In addition to cardiac catheterization, services provided at the lab include coronary angiography, pacemaker implantation, implanted cardiac monitor placement, stress testing and peripheral vascular procedures.
The Grand Valley Cardiology program is currently run by Richard Garmany, MD, a board certified cardiologist, and Todd James, DO, an interventional cardiologist. The hospital is currently recruiting additional cardiologists to staff the program.
The heart center is one of five in the state's western region, according to The Business Times.
“The new cardiovascular procedure center will help expand Community Hospital’s ability to
provide high quality health care to patients with medical conditions related to the heart, who may
have otherwise been transferred to another facility to receive cardiac care,” said Joe Gerardi, COO and chief nursing officer at the hospital.
